King County is preparing to launch one of the largest RFPs in Washington State and is looking for your feedback on how it’s created. In 10 minutes, you can make a difference in how the County’s Harborview Bond Program crafts its design and construction RFP that will impact how health care is provided across a five-state region.
The Harborview Bond Program Organization (HBPO) seeks to solicit feedback from the design and construction community prior to confirming delivery and packaging methods for Phase One of the Bond work. This survey will close on January 10, 2024, and can take from 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Click here to take the survey.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
In November 2020, King County voters overwhelmingly approved issuing up to $1.74 billion in bond funds to support health and safety improvements at King County’s Harborview Medical Center campus. Harborview’s facilities are deeply constrained. The facility limitations significantly impact hospital operations, resulting in limited capacity to house more patients in the event of an emergency, and limited flexibility for hospital operations. Phase One of the Bond Program goals include:
- Constructing a new high-rise inpatient hospital tower to house emergency and trauma facilities and single-patient hospital rooms;
- Constructing all supporting infrastructure, including new roadways in energy infrastructure;
- Renovating essential services located in older sections of the hospital and connecting them to the new tower; and
- Renovating public health clinics and King County Services located on campus to meet increased demand.
King County and UW Medicine have worked together to establish the Harborview Bond Program to meet these growing needs at the medical center.
Completion of this work program will create modern, innovative, accessible, and sustainable healthcare facilities to better serve our community.
