Vigor is engaged in design and engineering for Washington State Ferries to allow future Olympic Class ferries to be built as hybrid-electric vessels. Vigor will subsequently build up to five Hybrid-Electric Olympic Class ferries over the next eight years. To accomplish design and construction of these vessels, we have a need for multiple trades and professional firms certified by one of the following methods:
- Washington State SBE (Small Business Enterprise) or DBE (Disadvantaged Business Enterprise) certified by Washington State OWMBE (Office of Minority & Women’s Business Enterprises).
- Washington State SBE self-certification from the Department of Enterprise Services
We welcome partnering with firms/trades that are marine oriented or are otherwise able to perform the work required. Please note that all certified SBE and DBE firms for this program must also be “in-state” businesses, which is defined, pursuant to RCW 39.26.010, as businesses having their principal office located in Washington.
Vigor would also be interested in seeing larger marine-oriented firms committed to engaging SBEs/DBEs anywhere in Washington as their own value-added partners and/or protégés. Any such commitment on the part of a larger business would be viewed as a significant differentiating criterion in a competitive solicitation as this would increase the available base of small businesses serving the marine industry.
