Cybersecurity Requirements for Department of Defense Contracts are Here! Are you Ready?
If you are a Washington APEX Accelerator client working on or pursuing contracts with the Department of Defense, you will need to meet new cybersecurity requirements going into effect in 2025.
At a minimum, WA APEX Accelerator recommends all DoD contractors achieve the CMMC Level 1 self-assessment which is not only a DoD requirement — its also good cyber hygiene — securing your business from general cyber-attacks.
The Basics: As a federal government contractor, supplier, or vendor, you handle Federal Contract Information (FCI), and you must comply with the basic contractor cybersecurity requirements listed in the FAR 52.204-21 clause. Beginning in 2025, contractors working in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) will have to affirm they meet these requirements as part of a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 1 self-assessment.
Not sure where to start? Consider these two options.
1) Complete a self-guided process with assistance from Project Spectrum for free.
2) Take a workshop offered by Washington APEX Accelerator, Totem Technologies and Govology.com. The three-week workshop offers hands-on learning from seasoned cybersecurity experts to be CMMC Level 1 Ready. This has a cost.*
