The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division – Seattle District (NWS) is hosting a Virtual Industry Day on 12 June 2023 to provide additional information and gain feedback from industry on an upcoming requirement for the large civil works project for the design-construction of a Fish Passage Facility (FPF) located at Howard A. Hanson Dam (HAHD) on the Green River, Washington.
The event will allow prime contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to learn about this upcoming construction project. The event aims to seek industry input regarding best practices and examples of past success on similar projects. The three-hour event will include presenting the project history, a summary of major work features, constraints and challenges, and project delivery methods. A live question and answer session with USACE personnel will immediately follow the presentation.
The Government anticipates this procurement to be solicited as a competitive fixed-price type contract. In addition, the anticipated acquisition strategy is to utilize the Integrated Design and Construction (IDaC) selection process.
“Integrated Design and Construction” means the construction contract type where design and construction are contracted concurrently through two efforts. Specific to this project, the design (i.e., architect-engineer) will be performed in-house (i.e., by the Government), and an award will be made to a construction contractor. The proposed strategy permits an award of the construction contract early in the project’s development through a competitive process. This early construction contractor involvement enables the selected construction contractor to provide constructability and cost input to the Designer of Record as the design progresses, simultaneously performing.
The Government is seeking industry feedback on the IDaC strategy (e.g., past/present experience and/or similar commercial practice)!
